Tania Begg has been a local multi-media artist since returning to South Florida in 1997 after ten years in the Caribbean aboard her 30’ sailboat with her husband and three children. There wasn’t much room for working on artwork aboard “BRITTANY” but she kept the kids happy with her pen and ink drawings of the fish community making personalized coloring books for the kids.
Returning to life ashore Tania became recognized for her three dimensional artwork doing colorful wire and bead sculptures of lizards which she appropriately called LIZZART. The beaded work expanded to a menagerie of animals including Terrapin turtles, Frogs, a snake, and Fish. When one of her favorite sea creatures was stolen, a large Nassau Grouper named “Harry” Tania took it hard and stopped making beaded sculptures for quite awhile and immersed herself with paintings, Tape Sculptures and stone sculpture and silver jewelry. When Harry the beaded grouper was returned anonymously to the gallery after three years, Tania once again started making Beaded sculptures.
Tania’s intricate, elaborate and detailed work is the hallmark of her style. Tania has immersed herself in the local art scene, winning many local awards as well as international shows such as Fire Mountain Gems.Tania is a member of many local art associations including Von Liebig Art Center in Naples and the Visual Art center in Punta Gorda.
Tania was born in London England, and has found inspiration in her travels, including the time she spent in the Caribbean with her family.
